[Spring 2016] The experimental heritage group began some field walking round the natural springs on Öland. We visited the place known as ‘sju källorna’ (= the seven springs). Artist Annika Grünwaldt Svensson and I decided to put together a short slide show of her photo images of this trip which also included some earlier images taken by Jörgen Ludwigsson of swans. Swans are relevant to my work in archaeology as I research flute origins and one of the first examples of a type of flute is made from the swan-wing radius. It is with my modern flute however that the sound track to this slide show was sketched as an improvisation, and recorded in Småland early one morning. Here is the slide show which lasts just over 4 minutes.
